We are running a weekly series called “Love Local.” During the pandemic, we have witnessed several incredible acts of selflessness both within our store and in the community. We decided to share these stories as a source of positivity and inspiration. Our community will come out of this even stronger since we truly are in this together.
Meet Russ & Barb, Blind Bay Village Grocer’s Bakers. During the first month of COVID-19, we experienced many challenges. We were without bread deliveries on a consistent basis; we had to change our schedules to accommodate Personal Shopping and Seniors hours; we had to remove all self-serve options and many other employees were away on holidays. Russ and Barb stepped up beyond our wildest expectations. They changed their personal schedules to ensure Russ was here at 3 AM, early enough to ensure our Volunteer Shoppers and Seniors had bread to purchase. Barb spent numerous hours ordering inventory and packaging all our products that could no longer be sold as self- serve. Each of them worked for three weeks straight. We love Russ and Barb and want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts!
Do you know of a local community champion that has stepped up beyond their call of duty? We’d love to hear your stories! #LoveLocal #InThisTogether
