James – President

James is the President of BBVG and has over 20 years of retail management experience. He is a people person and looks forward to working with his team and helping his loyal customers each day. He is proud of BBVG’s large selection of local and made-in-BC products such as meat, produce, coffee, baked goods and dairy. James is known to go above and beyond for his customers by delivering groceries to them and he even helps them with chores such as garbage and snow removal. In his spare time, James loves to be outdoors with his family fishing, hunting, mountain biking or skiing. He also loves coaching hockey and baseball.

Doug – General Manager

Doug has managed Blind Bay Village Grocer for the last eight years. With 29 years of experience in the food service industry, he specializes in delivering and maintaining excellent customer service. He also makes a high-level commitment to mentoring and coaching his team to be equally as passionate about the needs and goals of customers. Doug believes that leadership is not a position or title, it is action and example.

Brenda – Assistant Store Manager

Brenda is our ace Assistant Store Manager, originally from Langley. She has over 30 years of experience in retail. She enjoys working with her fellow employees and they have fun together pricing the liquor. In her spare time, Brenda loves to explore what the Shuswap has to offer and finding great spots to walk her dog.

Todd – Grocery Manager

Todd is our beloved Grocery Manager. Todd wants our customers to know that we have gluten-free products, local products, organic products and some plant-based products. And as a rule, at lower prices than our competitors. Todd loves BBVG’s customers and goes out of his way to look up products on the Internet for alternatives in the store that can’t be brought in from regular suppliers. When asked what he loves about working for BBVG he said, “the jokes from the boss!” In his spare time, Todd walks his dog and “works.”

Rebecca – Liquor Manager

Rebecca is our energetic Liquor Manager, originally from Langley. She wants customers to know that she can order in anything that bigger stores carry, even kegs! She enjoys sourcing unique alcohol for customers, sourcing local wines for weddings and delivering alcohol for special events. Rebecca says she loves working at BBVG because of the sense of family and that management shows staff that they are important by always supporting them. She loves pets and in her spare time, Rebecca loves to ride her motorcycle, walk her dogs and go to the beach.

Peter – Meat Manager

Peter is our stellar Meat Manager, originally from Kamloops. Peter has been a meat cutter for over 40 years and it runs in the family as his father was a meat cutter and now his eldest son is one too. Peter wants our customers to know that with over 75 years of experience in the meat department, they can provide whatever cut or order our customers require. Consistency and quality is also number one in their department. Peter loves providing specialty cuts for his customers and sourcing local products. When asked what he loves about working at BBVG he said, “The management and staff really care and excellent working conditions!” In his spare time, Peter explores the back roads and relaxes while fishing.

Teresa – Online & Personal
Shopping Manager

Teresa is our amazing Online & Personal Shopping Manager, originally from Abbotsford. Teresa is excited about BBVG’s new offering of online shopping and is in charge of managing this program for our customers. It adds a whole new level of customer service and convenience. On a day-to-day basis, she enjoys seeing and talking to her regular customers, and her co-workers feel like an extended family to her. Teresa loves to cook, bake, relax and enjoy her surroundings in the beautiful Shuswap.

Roy – Chef

Roy is our extraordinary Chef, originally from the Philippines. He wants customers to know that there is always a new menu in the deli, samples for tasting, great presentation and it’s always fresh. Roy always has a big smile for his customers and is on a first name basis with most. He is grateful that the BBVG team is friendly and helpful and he also likes to share his knowledge with them. In his spare time, Roy loves to go boating, swimming, and creating spectacular fruit and vegetable arrangements.

Peggy – Night Manager

Peggy is our Night Manager, originally from Vancouver. The best part of her job is meeting interesting people from all over the place. She enjoys helping customers find everything they are looking for and seeing them leave with a smile! And if a customer is unable to visit the store, their groceries can be delivered to them. In her spare time, Peggy enjoys going to the beach in the summer!

Bill – Night Manager

Bill is our dedicated Night Manager, originally from Langley. Bill enjoys assisting elderly clients with carry-outs. He also enjoys the atmosphere and his short commute to BBVG. He love the sunshine, building snow castles and floating in the lake.

Lee – Assistant Grocery Manager

Lee is our hard-working Assistant Grocery Manager, originally from Port Alice. He wants customers to know that we have a wide variety of Asian and other ethnic groceries and cuisine available in our store. Lee prides himself on going to extreme lengths to satisfy our customers’ requests and looks forward to conquering the unique set of challenges he is faced with daily. He also loves the people he works with. In his spare time, Lee enjoys hiking, mountain biking, quadding, playing guitar and is an avid computer techie.

Nicole – Office Administrator

Nicole is our valuable Office Administrator, originally from Lillooet, BC. Nicole always has a smile on her face and prides herself on treating all customers the same way as she would wish to be treated. Some people may consider this going above and beyond, but Nicole considers this “just doing her job.” Nicole wears many hats in her day-to-day duties, but one thing people might not know is that she creates gorgeous custom gift baskets in the store for all occasions. She loves working at BBVG as she considers her fellow employees’ family. In her spare time, she loves hiking, boating, 4x4ing, painting, drawing and nature photography.

Robin – Office Administrator

Robin is our helpful Office Administrator and has lived in Blind Bay for 13 years. Robin loves the camaraderie at the store. She is married, has four daughters, loves to golf and enjoys the sun and lake with family and friends.

Nageshwani (Linda) – Deli Supervisor

Linda is our outstanding Deli Supervisor, originally from the Fiji Islands! She loves meeting and getting to know her customers. She has gone out of her way to make platters on the spot for them. She wants her customer to know that the deli provides catering.  In her spare time she loves cooking and jet skiing.

Josh – Night Floor Supervisor

Josh is our super evening Floor Supervisor, originally from Langley. You can often find Josh pumping gas for those that require assistance. He wants customers to know that BBVG offers rain checks if they run out of an item. He loves working at BBVG because he says “My team is my family.” In his spare time, Josh likes to go for cruises on the lake, play sports, loves horticulture and is a movie buff.

Gene – Grocery Clerk

Gene is our loyal Grocery Clerk, originally from South Burnaby, and has been with us for many years. He wants customers to know that BBVG offers a home delivery service for our less mobile customers. Gene always goes out of his way to help our customers and has even changed their flat tires! He loves working with all the great staff at BBVG (plus the liquor sampling when he is off duty!). In his spare time, he rides his motorcycle, walks and hikes with his dog, and explores the backroads on his motorbike or 4 x 4.

Lavalle – Grocery Clerk

Lavalle is one of our hard-working Grocery Clerks, originally from Winnipeg. You can often find Lavalle carrying out groceries for our customers, or bringing in any product a customer desires. Being from Manitoba, he used to eat a lot of Bison, and he wants customers to know that BBVG carries awesome Bison pepperoni. When asked what he loves about working at BBVG, he said, “The people here are like family, we all get along so well.”.

Savannah – Cashier

Savannah is one of our friendly cashiers, originally from Kimberly. She wants customers to know that BBVG offers Coffee Cards and VILP Cards. The Coffee Cards are stamped after each coffee purchased and once the card is full, customers receive a free coffee. Our VILP card, or Very Important Little Person Card, is for kids aged 3-8. After six visits, kids get to pick a toy out of the prize box. These cards can be picked up at any one of our cashiers. Savannah is very dedicated and has even helped customers on her days off. On working at BBVG she says, “My customers are super friendly, I get to tell jokes on a regular basis, and our team is my family.” In her spare time, she creates stained glass mosaics, plays video games, hikes Margaret Falls, has lunch at Notch Hill Park, and drives to Crazy Creek for fun!

Saki – Cashier

Saki is one of our friendly cashiers, originally from Langley. She loves working at BBVG because of the great customers and co-workers. She also loves offering to carry out groceries for her customers or trying to help find what they need. In her spare time, Saki loves puttering in her garden, boating, reading, getting together with friends, and visiting with her grandkids.

Ashlyn – Cashier

Ashlyn is one of our friendly cashiers who has lived in five different countries! She loves her co-workers and customers and if it looks like her customers have a large order she will call for a customer carry-out. She wants customers to know that BBVG offers cashback up to $100.00 on debit transactions so that they don’t have to use the bank machine. Ashlyn is an open water diver and loves the lake.

Sonia – Cashier

Sonia is one of our friendly Cashiers, originally from Edmonton. Sonia likes that BBVG has a great selection of craft beers and wine. She tries to make every one of her amazing customer’s experience a great one in hopes that they keep coming back. She loves music and the outdoors and in her spare time, she likes to kayak, hike, garden and explore.

Barb – Bakery Clerk

Barb is our amazing Bakery Clerk, originally from New Brunswick. She enjoys helping customers find what they need and helping out at the cash registers when needed. She wants customers to know that they have a new ice cream dessert cooler in the bakery with a great selection of cakes and desserts. Being in the bakery allows her to be creative! In her spare time, Barb loves to read, walk her dog, and go boating with her friends and family.

Russ – Baker

John – Meat Cutter

John is our talented Meat Cutter, originally from Vancouver and Squamish. He has over 35 years of experience as a butcher. John wants our customers to know that BBVG has its own in-house smoker and they smoke items such as hocks, turkey parts, roast beef in the deli, etc. John prides himself on going above and beyond by bringing in special products or cuts for customers. He also loves the challenge of making new items in the meat department. In his spare time, he fishes, hikes and explores new back-country areas.

Joe – Meat Cutter

Joe is one of our fantastic meat cutters, originally from Fraser Lake/Vanderhoof. He loves to do custom cuts for customers and wants people to know that the meat department has amazing locally made bacon and various meats. He says that the customers and staff make work a joy to come to. In his spare time, Joe likes to golf, read, and play Dungeons and Dragons.
